I’m over at AudioGals with a review of The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas, narrated by Alexandra Baldwin and Owen MacMahon. I kept getting hung up on the author’s strange word choices which distracted me from the story, I didn’t think much of the main characters and I can’t say I was wowed by the narration. Best thing about it? The cover.
Why I read it: I’ve had my eye on this book for a while and wanted to catch up on the series. I decided to try the audio rather than the digital version. MISTAKE.

What worked for me (and what didn’t): Cole (short for Nicole) Jamison is somewhat unexpectedly asked to join an undercover operation run by a joint FBI/DEA task force. She’s a K-9 officer with the Maryland police but her previous experience in agility training/courses is the big attractor for the task force. Also, her ex-husband (who wants her back) suggested she be brought in.
Scott Lucca met and married Nikki (as he then knew her) in a whirlwind romance. After his beloved (and golden) brother, Gabe, died while deployed, Scott lost it a bit and things fell apart. At the time he was working as an undercover operative infiltrating the Pagans MC and some of the things he had to do to maintain his cover cost them both. That was two years earlier and Scott still misses Nikki like it was yesterday.

I’m over at AudioGals with a review of The Law of Attraction by Jay Northcote, narrated by Matthew Lloyd Davies. I didn’t like the narration much and I thought some aspects of the story were too unbelievable so this was not a great experience. (Also, the guy on the cover looks like he has something in his nose. I know it’s just unfortunate lighting/Photoshop but now I can’t look away…)
I’m over at AudioGals with a review of Hitched by Kendal Ryan, narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Ava Erickson. While I enjoyed the story well enough, I was disappointed to discover Hitched is not the complete tale and it ends in a big cliffhanger and no HEA/HFN. Sad Kaetrin.
I’m over at AudioGals with a review of Ultimate Courage by Piper J. Drake, narrated by Daniel Thomas May & Kristin Kalbli. If you can get past the short time-frame-for-HEA thing, this is a solid and entertaining romantic suspense.
